Bancontact/Mister Cash unveils QR code-based P2P payments app

Friday 22 February 2013 13:31 CET | News

Belgian electronic payments provider Bancontact/Mister Cash has developed a mobile application that allows users to make payments to each other by opening the app on their mobile devices.

How it works
Receivers enter the amount on their devices, thereby generating a unique QR code. Next, payers read this QR code with their app, enter a secret PIN and the payment is immediately executed.

The app is securely linked to the Bancontact/Mister Cash card by Atos Worldwide, the technology partner in this project. The money is credited to or debited from the current account and the transaction will appear on the normal bank statements.

The app is set to be commercially launched in 2014.
