Barclays enhances its Pingit m-payments app

Monday 16 September 2013 14:41 CET | News

UK financial services company Barclays has enhanced its mobile payments app, Pingit, adding an option to pay for items via an app or a mobile website.

Pingit’s mobile shopping service, which connects to a user’s bank account, requires users to input a five-digit code to approve a payment. After a shopper selects an item to buy within an app, they are given the option to pay via Pingit rather than in the traditional manner of entering their credit card details.

After its launch, the main use of Barclays’ Pingit app has been to send money between users. Barclays has signed up a number of partners to the service, including one transport company that is set to allow users to buy tickets using the app.

Barclays provides financial services in retail banking, credit cards, corporate and investment banking, as well as wealth management and has an international presence in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia.

In recent news, Barclays Zimbabwe, a subsidiary of UK financial services provider Barclays, has launched its mobile banking application dubbed Hello Money in Zimbabwe.
