UK-based financial institution Barclays has updated its mobile payments app PingIt to enable customers to transfer funds by entering a persons’ Twitter handle.

After linking their Twitter account to PingIt, app users will no longer need to input details such as account number, sort code or phone number before transferring funds.

The service is set to launch on both Android and iOS devices.

In recent news, financial institution ICICI Bank has unveiled that its customers can use their Twitter account for fund transfers, prepaid mobile recharges and to check bank balance.
