US financial services provider BB&T has launched an Android application for its mobile banking service, thus targeting both smartphone and tablet users.

The Android app is set to allow clients to check account balances and transactions, transfer funds, pay bills, as well as locate the nearest BB&T financial centre or ATM using GPS (Global Positioning System) technology.

In 2010, the financial institution released BlackBerry and iPhone mobile banking apps.

BB&T has USD 157.2 billion in assets and a market capitalization of USD16.7 billion and operates in 1,800 financial centres in 12 states in the US.

In February 2011 , BB&T has rolled out a new prepaid MoneyAccount featuring a Visa-branded debit card.
