BillingScore rolls out fraud prevention service for mobile purchasing transactions

Monday 22 November 2010 14:33 CET | News

BillingScore, a UK-based provider of risk assessment services, has rolled out a new service designed to enable users such as SMS aggregators to tackle the threat of premium rate messaging fraud.

BillingScore performs real-time calculations on a range of data points such as the account velocity and purchasing patterns to generate a risk score. Based on a set of algorithms, the BillingScore service will search for patterns and unusual behaviour that might indicate AIT (artificially inflated traffic). The system provides a value for each transaction and can block the transaction from taking place if it fails to meet the pre-set criteria.

BillingScore has already inked a contract with mobile messaging provider Txtlocal for the newly-launched service.
