Boku to provide m-payment services for new partners

Friday 20 November 2009 11:10 CET | News

Mobile payments provider Boku has closed a deal with twelve game developers to enable customers to purchase virtual goods using their mobile phone.

The partner companies include Waves, Cie Studios, Cyberstep, GameDuell, IGG, King.com, NHN USA, Ntreev, Outspark, PerfectWorld, Snap Interactive and Zoosk. The Boku payment technology allows users to click on the Pay by Mobile button on the merchant’s checkout page and instead of entering their credit card number or turning to an online payment service, they have to input their phone number as well as their mobile provider.

As a result of the new partnerships, Boku can reach 200 million more customers over 250 new games. The company has also announced a new user interface, meant to help partners increase their revenue. Boku introduced its service in June 2009 and it currently has over 1,000 direct mobile payments partners, with a global coverage in 56 countries across 190 carriers.
