Boku, US Cellular in online mobile payments partnership

Thursday 24 January 2013 09:53 CET | News

US online mobile payments company Boku has entered a partnership with US wireless telecommunications network operator US Cellular to offer direct-to-bill mobile operator billing as a payment option for the carrier’s postpaid customers across 26 US states.

Under the terms of the deal, US Cellular subscribers will be able to pay online with their mobile account at participating online merchants. Thus, consumers who chose to employ Boku as a payment option while shopping online will gain the ability to enter their phone number at checkout and respond via text message to confirm the payment with the charges appearing on their wireless bill.

In recent news, Boku has received regulatory approval for the extension of its Boku Payments Platform in the European Union in the form of an e-money licence.
