Wednesday 16 May 2012 11:31 CET | News

Canadian financial services provider CIBC has entered an agreement with mobile carrier Rogers to launch a joint mobile payment service late 2012.

The new service is set to allow Canadians to pay with their CIBC credit cards at checkout counters using their Rogers Near Field Communications (NFC) enabled smartphones. Customers are set to be able to use this payment service at merchants across Canada where contactless credit card payments are accepted.

The new mobile payments service is set to provide customers with access to their existing CIBC credit cards on their smartphones. Customers will also be able to manage their credit card credentials on a platform without attaching stickers to their phones.

CIBC provides online banking, cash management, mobile banking as well as loans and other merchant services.

In recent news, CIBC has launched a mobile banking application for iPad users.
