Citi Commercial Cards, a unit of the Global Transaction Services business, has rolled out mobile alerts for cardholders and Program Administrators (PAs) across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Citi’s commercial cardholders in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia are set to be able to receive Short Message Service (SMS) alerts or email alerts indicating when their statement is ready, their payment is due or past-due and when a replacement card has been mailed to them.

As part of the roll-out, Citi Commercial Cards has launched two real-time “On-Demand” alerts and three subscription alerts. The “On-Demand” alerts are set to allow Citi Commercial cardholders to check their account balances or their recently processed transactions by typing in a command to “GOCITI”.

In recent news, Citi has entered an agreement with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to accelerate the adoption of mobile payments services in developing countries.
