Citibank launches new banking app for the iPad, Kindle Fire – no support for Googles Android

Citibank, the consumer banking arm of financial services giant Citigroup, has rolled out a new banking app for tablets which supports the iPad and the Amazon Kindle Fire, with no support for tablets running the Google-powered Android 3.0 Honeycomb or later, appleinsider.com reports.

Citibank has billed the release of its new banking app for tablets an “exclusive launch for Amazon Appstore for Android”, the same source indicates. Citibank does offer smartphone apps for the iPhone and all Android devices; however its tablet apps are only optimized for the iPad and the Kindle Fire.

The Citibank-powered tablet apps allow users to access their accounts, analyse account activity, carry out bill payments and account-to-account money transfers.
