Friday 11 October 2013 09:44 CET | News

Korea-based Danal Corporation, the majority shareholder of US mobile payments provider for online purchases BilltoMobile Danal, in partnership with Crucialtec, a South Korean provider of Optical Track Pad mobile input devices used in smartphones, smart TVs and digital cameras, have launched the first Android-based system for authorising payments via fingerprints.

The smartphone is set to accept fingerprint scans instead of pin-based with the help of the BarTong application.

In April 2013, global industry leaders such as Google, semiconductor company NXP and CrucialTec joined the Board of Directors of FIDO Alliance, a non-profit industry consortium which addresses the lack of interoperability among strong authentication technologies.
