According to a survey, mobile operators worldwide have an average customer e-billing adoption rate of 56.8 percent while for MNOs, customer e-billing adoption stands at 17.2 percent.

The study, conducted by BillingViews, focused on a panel of communications industry billing and IT executives. When asked what percentage of their customer base has adopted e-billing so far, the response came from more than 30 panelists, which corresponds to a global average e-billing adoption rate of 33.7 percent across all regions.

According to the survey, the highest average e-billing adoption rate, more precisely 63 percent, is found in Western Europe. The lowest value, respectively 4 percent, is reported in the Africa-Middle East region.

When it comes to discrepancies between e-billing adoption for mobile operators and MNOs, Western Europe’s mobile operators reported an average e-billing adoption rate of 78.4 percent, while for MNOs the adoption rate was 16 percent.

An explanation for these differences could be the younger customers in the mobile segment who are more interested in online services, while tech-savvy users are underrepresented in the MNO customer population, the same survey estimates.
