Under the terms of the agreement, EastNets is set to provide the technology platform to support the regional and global launch of Qtel Group’s mobile wallet service which aims to enable international remittance.As part of the agreement, EastNets will provide the infrastructure required to host Qtel’s mobile wallet cross-border money transfer service. The app will be hosted through a primary site in Dubai and a Disaster Recovery (DR) site in Bahrain.
Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) are set to connect to the primary and DR sites through a secure virtual private network (VPN) connection. Qtel’s mobile wallet customers are expected to use their mobile devices to send money, top up their credit, make payments and transfer airtime to friends and relatives.
Qtel’s mobile wallet service will be hosted through EastNets Service Bureau, an outsourcing and managed services platform that is used by over 250 customers globally to access the SWIFT Network.
As part of the agreement with Qtel, EastNets will also deliver compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) features through the en.SafeWatch Profiling as a Service (PaaS).
