Wednesday 5 September 2012 00:11 CET | News

EMV payment standards body EMVCo, currently owned by JCB International, American Express, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa has entered a partnership with the NFC Forum, a non-profit industry association that aims to advance the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

Under the agreement, EMVCo and the NFC Forum are set to work together to optimise the development and testing process of Near Field Communication (NFC)-enabled mobile devices for vendors. The aim of the collaboration is to establish a framework to synchronise NFC Forum and EMVCo Specifications, test plans, test tools, laboratory accreditations and the management of contactless product certification.

EMVCo was founded in 1999 to manage, maintain and enhance the EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications to provide interoperability and acceptance of payment system integrated circuit cards on a worldwide basis.
