US security services provider Entrust has entered an agreement with global mobile messaging services provider Clickatell to provide one-time-passcodes (OTP) to mobile devices via SMS.

Under the terms of the deal, Entrusts IdentityGuard platform will issue OTPs directly to the users mobile phone via Clickatell text messaging, which can be used as a second factor for out-of-band authentication with Entrust IdentityGuard. The service also enables automatic refresh of the passcodes as well as user authentication while out of mobile phone range.

Entrust IdentityGuard platform enables authentication for consumer and enterprise environments to enhance security and help stop online fraud. Its authentication options include strong username and password, IP-geolocation, device, questions and answers, out-of-band one-time-passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid cards, eGrid cards and a range of one-time-passcode tokens.

Clickatell is a communication services provider specializing in bulk messaging services and SMS gateway connectivity. The company provides interoperability with 775 network operators across 220 countries, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange, O2, SingTel and Telstra.
