Ericsson launches mobile in-app payment service

Thursday 13 October 2011 14:49 CET | News

Global mobile telecom company Ericsson has launched its In Application Payment service based on their Internet Payment Exchange (IPX) service platform, integrated in over 120 carriers.

Consumers in a game or other applications can use the In App Payment service on their mobile phones to complete a purchase without having to exit the app and without a credit card.

The Ericsson service enables retailers to offer different payment models, like try-before-you-buy, rental and subscription models. These models can be used for game levels, maps, but also for digital content like music or books. A virtual currency is available for small-value payments.

Ericsson’s In App Payment service automatically adjusts to the different technical payment options used by mobile networks globally and allows them to retail apps over networks in different countries.
