Euronet, wipit to launch mobile payment service

Wednesday 28 September 2011 13:00 CET | News

Global electronic payments provider and distributor Euronet Worldwide and US software developer wipit announced the upcoming launch of a service designed to enable cash-preferring consumers to participate in mobile payments.

The wipit service is set to provide users with the ability to carry out mobile e-commerce purchases via wipit accounts. This solution is going to be made available for Android and iPhone smartphones and will provide consumers with the option to fund their wipit accounts with cash.

While the offer is focused on delivering a mobile payments app for the cash-preferring consumer, users can also choose to link a credit card as an account payment method.

After downloading the wipit app, consumers can set up their account on their handset or on the wipit website. Users then employ a store locator to find a Euronet-enabled retail location where they can add funds to their accounts. This way funds are made available to the consumer for mobile e-commerce purchases.
