Flint Mobile, a US-based mobile payments company, has secured USD 6 million in a Series B funding round to extend swipe-free mobile payment apps.

The Series B round was led by Digicel and SVG Ventures. Previous investors Storm Ventures and True Ventures have also contributed new capital as follow-on to their April 2012 investment.

Flints patented technology uses the phones built-in camera to scan card numbers, with no additional hardware required.

In recent news, Fidano, a subsidiary of merchant service providers NXGEN International has extended its agreement with Flint Mobile.
