Thursday 24 March 2011 11:38 CET | News

US online mobile payment services developer Boku has entered a partnership with mobile services provider Telefonica O2 Germany and the mobile internet payment system mpass to deliver a mobile billing service to customers.

Under the terms of the deal, O2 customers are able to purchase virtual and digital goods via Boku’s payment platform. To make the payment, O2 customers have to enter their mobile number and the money will be charged directly to their mobile phone carrier bill. The direct carrier billing for the purchase of virtual, digital and physical goods is enabled by O2’s mpass system.

As a result of the newly-formed partnership, the Boku mobile payments platform is integrated with O2 Germany’s operator billing interface providing capabilities such as support for one-off and subscription payments in Germany, as well as authorization and capture APIs with refund support, in-app and web billing support.

Boku’s online mobile payment service is aimed at online merchants and publishers worldwide. Boku is connected to 230 mobile operators in more than 65 countries and provides access to more than 2.5 billion potential customers who can pay via their mobile phone.

mpass is provided by the German telecommunication companies Telekom Germany, Vodafone Germany and O2 Germany. The service is targeted at all mobile users who are customers of the German mobile telecommunication providers.
