Global Payments, 1O1O launch mPOS solution in Hong Kong

Global Payments Asia-Pacific (Global Payments), a regional card payment processor in Asia, has entered a partnership with Hong Kong-based mobile operator 1O1O to launch a mobile payment solution that turns a smartphone or tablet into a mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) terminal.

The solution enables merchants to accept Visa, MasterCard and JCB card payments on the go. Interested merchants are set to be able to sign up for this service at selected 1O1O centres.

The mobile payment solution is compatible with both iOS and Android devices and is powered by 1O1Os 4G LTE network. With the solution, merchants on the go, such as businesses with mobile sales force, home delivery services and outdoor sales operations can capture payments through an EMV certified card reader connected to a smartphone or tablet.

In recent news, financial institution Hang Seng Bank has partnered with mobile network operator CSL to extend its mobile payment service to 1O1O and one2free customers, allowing them to use designated near field communication (NFC)-enabled mobile phones to make payments at a number of retail outlets in Hong Kong.
