Globul initiates m-banking and payments trial

Bulgarian mobile operator Globul has developed a pilot project in conjunction with banking operator SEP Bulgaria, Alliantz Bank Bulgaria and Post Bank to introduce a service for bank payments via the mobile channel, Cellular News reports.

Different commercial chains in the country are also part of the trial and other trade banks will be gradually included, according to the same source.

Globul subscribers will gain access to the service starting 2010. Users of the Mobile Wallet service will be able to use the money in their bank account to pay online and in different commercial sites, to pay utility services fees, to receive details regarding the status of their bank accounts, as well as to recharge a b-connect cards.

The Mobile Wallet service users who participate in the project will also receive a special microchip for contactless payments which enables them to make payments of up to BGN 20 in commercial chains without the need to type in a PIN code.
