Heartland Payment Systems, LevelUp to roll out m-payment services across the US

US-based payments processor Heartland Payment Systems has entered an agreement with mobile payments start-up LevelUp to roll out the latter’s mobile payment and loyalty platform to merchants across the US.

In addition to the LevelUp app for individual merchants, the companies will also co-promote white-labeled apps for businesses with multiple locations. LevelUps white-label solution enables businesses to offer a fully branded mobile payment and loyalty solution with access to all LevelUp features on the back end.

As part of the agreement, LevelUp has also integrated its technology into Heartlands E3 end-to-end encryption terminal/POS, which protects payment data throughout its lifecycle. This is combined with Heartlands tokenization technology that replaces card data with a token that replaces this sensitive information.

Heartland Payment Systems delivers credit/debit/prepaid card processing, gift marketing and loyalty programs, payroll, check management and related business services to over 250,000 business locations nationwide. Heartland is the founding supporter of The Merchant Bill of Rights, a public advocacy initiative that educates merchants about fair credit and debit card processing practices.

LevelUp provides an iPhone and Android QR code mobile payments application for consumers and a terminal system for merchants to process payments. Users “unlock” loyalty credit when they use the LevelUp app to spend a certain amount of money at a business.

In recent news, LevelUp was set to make its mobile payments service available at concessions stands at the Austin Convention Center during annual music, film, and interactive conference and festival SXSW.
