US-based payment technology company Hypercom has rolled out a new mobile payment system, dubbed M5000.

The newly-announced service presents an integrated contactless reader that is set to enable merchants to accept any type of card payment on a permanent basis. In addition, the system supports GPRS and Bluetooth connectivity and meets PCI PTS and EMV requirements

The system’s processor provides a touch screen that is expected to allow users access to any payment app. The new user interface is set to include icon-based integration with inventory management or menu ordering systems. Additionally, the M5000 includes a software development toolkit.

Hypercom’s M500 pilots program is expected to begin in the spring and summer of 2011. The new mobile payment system targets the needs of hotels, cafés and restaurants, as well as mobile merchants.
