Indonesia: PT XL Axiata, Western Union launch mobile money transfer service

Indonesia-based mobile telecommunications services operator PT XL Axiata has entered an agreement with Western Union and mini market chain Alfamart to provide mobile-based remittance services to Indonesian customers.

Under the agreement, with the service migrant workers can send money from Western Union offices directly to the mobile wallet accounts of XL subscribers. XL subscribers can then withdraw the funds or use the balance for purchases at Alfamart mini markets, XL centers or XL retail partners.

In recent news, Western Union has entered an agreement with the Argentinian division of French retailer Carrefour to provide Western Union global money transfer and bill payment services across Carrefour locations in Argentina.
