US provider of business and financial management services Intuit is set to deploy its GoPayment mobile credit card app and card reader hardware in Canada.

GoPayment will provide Canadian small businesses as well as individual consumers who sell products or services with a means to accept credit card payments using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device.

In addition to this news, Intuit has revealed plans to begin shipping a newly-designed GoPayment Card Reader in both the US and Canada. The card reader is a compact, cylinder-shaped device that aims to provide enhanced security for card swipes and includes encryption features that aim to protect a customer’s sensitive credit card data.

GoPayment for Canada and the new GoPayment card reader will both be available in early 2012.
