Intuit to bring NFC technology to GoPayment app

US provider of business and financial management services Intuit has developed a concept demo that revamps its GoPayment mobile credit card processing application using NFC technology.

Built on Googles Android mobile platform and using NFC technology with Nexus S by Google, Intuit has transformed its existing GoPayment mobile credit card processing application into one that transfers credit card data via radio waves. The company is exhibiting the demo at the upcoming Google I/O developer conference in San Francisco, US.

With the upcoming service, small business owners are expected to tap their phones against a product with a smart tag in order to add an item to inventory. All information on that product is then set to appear in the mobile payment application. To complete the purchase, the customer and small business owner would touch their phones together, eliminating the need to swipe a credit card.

In addition, Intuit is in the phase of making the GoPayment app available for Android 3.0-based tablets and the service is expected to be available in the summer of 2011.

GoPayment is a mobile phone app which enables small businesses to process credit cards on the go. To use the service, clients need to install the GoPayment app on their web-enabled mobiles, as well as open an Intuit GoPayment merchant account. The app enables users to review transactions online and synchronize them with QuickBooks.

In recent news, Intuit has made its GoPayment mobile app available for iPad.
