Ireland: Monitise launches m-banking app for the iPhone

Monitise, a British mobile banking and payment service provider, has entered a partnership with Irish financial services company Ulster Bank to launch an iPhone-based mobile banking application in the Republic of Ireland.

The new application is set to enable Ulster Bank customers to monitor their account balance, carry out electronic banking activities,make online payments for their purchases as well as receive automatic text alerts. Furthermore, Monitise has unveiled its intention to roll out in the near future a range of SMS-based mobile banking options for customers located in the Republic of Ireland.

Recently, Monitise has established a joint venture with Visa in India, ina bid to provide such services as balance inquiries, bill payments and ticket purchases via mobile devices. Further on, the two sides intend to diversify their range of activities by introducing mobile money for the unbanked Indian population as well as electronic transfer services.
