iSend teams up with Telefonica for mobile top-up services

US electronic payments provider iSend has entered an agreement with Telefonica, a telecommunication services provider.

The agreement will enable consumers in the US and Canada to visit iSend retailers and purchase mobile airtime for family and friends who are Telefonica Movistar customers in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Uruguay. Consumers worldwide can arrange the same top-ups online at iSend’s top-up portal.

iSend customers can top up any family member’s mobile phone, at their level of choice and with instant verification. Customers are not charged for the service beyond the normal price of minutes.

Telefonica has a significant presence in 24 countries and a customer base with nearly 316 million accesses around the world (more than 212 million accesses in Latin America). Telefónica has a strong presence in Spain, Europe and Latin America, where the company focuses an important part of its growth strategy.

In recent news, Spanish financial services providers CaixaBank, Santander and Telefonica have signed an agreement to create a joint venture to develop new digital services based on mobile and communication technologies.
