Italian public transport company partners Ericsson, TIM, Vodafone, Wind and 3 Italia for mobile ticketing

Italian public transport company Azienda Trasporti dellArea Fiorentina (ATAF) has entered an agreement with global mobile telecom company Ericsson and mobile network operators TIM, Vodafone, Wind and 3 Italia to launch a mobile ticketing service.

Under the agreement, Ericsson is set to provide ATAF with its Payment Exchange (IPX) service platform as well as mobile ticketing technology and systems integration services.

The new service is set to allow customers of these operators to purchase tickets for public transport via text message with the costs being charged to their mobile accounts.

In recent news, Ericsson has launched two new services within its m-commerce portfolio to provide consumer brands with the infrastructure needed to connect m-wallets across a global m-commerce ecosystem.
