Leaf secures USD 20 mln in funding round

Leaf, a technology services provider, has closed USD 20 million in its first round of institutional funding from US-based payments processor Heartland Payment Systems.

Heartland has also joined Leaf’s network of distribution partners. In addition to its card processing service, Heartland is set to build an array of value-added apps on the Leaf platform, including payroll and mobile and online ordering.

Leaf is set to use the funds to enhance manufacturing capabilities of its proprietary, purpose-built tablet LeafPresenter and extend its team in order to enhance the LeafBusiness application and the Leaf Appstore.

LeafPresenter is a tablet specifically designed for commerce. With technology including a magnetic stripe card reader, near field communication (NFC), Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) and front-and- rear-facing cameras, LeafPresenter is able to accept payments via traditional payment cards, gift cards, alternative payment methods such as PayPal and LevelUp and a number of mobile wallets.

Heartland Payment Systems is a US payments processor that delivers credit/debit/prepaid card processing, mobile commerce, e-commerce, marketing solutions, security technology, payroll solutions, and related business solutions and services.

In recent news, Heartland Payment Systems and the e-commerce platform Bigcommerce, have entered a collaboration to launch Heartland’s Online Storefront.
