The service enables wages to migrant and local workers to be paid onto a mobile wallet or a mobile-enabled payroll card. As a result of the deal, the cardholder and the mobile wallet holder will be able to withdraw cash at EIE locations in the UAE and make mobile remittance transactions via the Luup mobile remittance gateway. The Luup mobile offering will be combined with EIE’s own infrastructure made up of an ATM presence across the UAE, 16 branches and its international money transfer network. According to GCAP, the mobile payments market is expected to reach USD 553 billion (AED 2.029 trillion) by 2013.
In December 2009, Luup International revealed plans to open a mobile-enabled remittances corridor between the United Arab Emirates, in partnership with PT Koinstar Dhasatra Indonesia Remittance.
