MasterCard has entered a partnership with US online mobile payments company Boku to enable consumers to shop and receive discounts and targeted offers at MasterCard merchants via their mobile phones using BOKU Accounts.

Under the agreement, account holders are set to use a MasterCard Prepaid card or PayPass-enabled device to make purchases anywhere MasterCard is accepted with a swipe or tap.

BOKU Accounts enables merchants to create loyalty programs as well as targeted offers to reach customers through mobile apps, SMS text messages, push notifications or e-mails. The platform also provides consumers with real-time visibility into spending and budgets tied to their accounts. The online campaign management system of the BOKU Accounts platform provides merchants with analytics so they can manage and modify these offer programs over time.

In recent news, WorldPay has selected Boku to integrate the latter’s payments platform into its payment network. Under the agreement, WorldPays merchants are set to enable their customers to make purchases and pay via their mobile operator bill without the need for credit or debit accounts.
