MasterCard trials auto top-up MasterCard PayPass wristband at Isle of Wight Festival

Monday 25 June 2012 15:52 CET | News

MasterCard has launched a trial program enabling Isle of Wight Festival participants to top up their contactless prepaid MasterCard PayPass wristbands.

Consumers can access the event or make purchases of GBP 20 or less by tapping their wristbands on readers without the need for a PIN code or a signature. There is also an auto top-up function that loads between GBP 10 and GBP 50 up to three times per day when a wristband balance drops below GBP 20. The maximum total load allowed on any wristband throughout the festival is GBP 500, with any unspent funds getting refunded back to customers at the end of the event.

When running low on funds or following an auto top-up, users are also set to receive a text message with their current wristband balance. Special mobile balance readers will also be available at customer service points, allowing wristband holders to tap to see their current balance.
