Mexico: BBVA Bancomer selects Hypercom for Optimum M4230 m-payment systems

Mexico-based financial institution BBVA Bancomer has selected payment technology company Hypercom to deploy the latter’s 10,000 Optimum M4230 mobile payment systems to its merchant customers.

Financial terms of the agreement are yet to be disclosed.

BBVA Bancomer is an affiliate of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, a global financial group based in Spain. BBVA employs 104,000 people in over 30 countries and counts roughly 47 million customers.

Hypercom’s services address the electronic transaction needs of banks and other financial institutions, processors, retailers, merchants, as well as users in the transportation, petroleum, healthcare, prepaid and self-service.

In recent news, US-based provider of NFC-enabled mobile payments ViVOtech has renewed its approach to VeriFone Systems to acquire the US assets of Hypercom. VeriFone Systems is a US electronic payment services company.
