Mint Wireless inks deal to distribute mobile terminals in Malaysia

Australian technology company Mint Wireless has entered an alleged USD 5 million agreement to distribute and deploy 3,000 “mobile airtime terminals in Malaysia, media outlet smartcompnay.com.au reports.

According to the source, the company has announced that its subsidiary J&C Pacific, a mobile airtime reload and transfer provider, is expected to distribute 3,000 mobile reload and micro remittance terminals in Malaysia, which allow users to make mobile payments.

Moreover, the source indicates that the company earned USD 8.7 million in H1 2011.

Mobile payment users are expected to surpass 141.1 million in 2011 globally, a 38.2 percent increase as compared to 2010, when mobile payment users reached 102.1 million, a recent study has revealed. The report published by information technology research and advisory company Gartner has predicted that worldwide mobile payment volume is likely to total USD 86.1 billion, up 75.9 percent from 2010 volume of USD 48.9 billion.
