Mobile banking gains advantage over telephone banking on the UK and US markets, a recent survey has revealed.

According to the research conducted by the global research company OnePoll, and supported by the mobile transaction network mBIox, 25 percent of the US mobile phone users and 37 percent UK mobile phone users have adopted mobile banking services. The research has revealed that the increase can be ascribed to the fact that consumers can access banking services anywhere, anytime (52 percent in the US vs. 46 percent in the UK).

The mBIox research has also unveiled that the main four online banking services in which respondents take interest are daily balance notifications, suspicious activity notifications, fraud alert notifications as well as low balance, overdraft, and credit limit notifications.

When questioned on the preferred banking method, the polled consumers have claimed that mobile banking is more convenient and easier to use than telephone banking (voice and touchtone) by a margin of 3 to 1 in the US and by a 1 percent margin in the UK. On the other hand, when asked about branch banking, only 2 percent of the US and 3 percent of the UK respondents have selected mobile banking as their favorite method of banking.
