Mobile Money Network to roll out m-payment service

Mobile Money Network is reportedly planning to develop an m-payment service, to be called Simply Tap, media outlet nearfieldcommunicationsworld.com reports.

Mobile Money Network is a JV established in November 2010 between UK m-banking and payment services provider Monitise, Best Buy Europe and Charles Dunstone, founder of UK independent mobile phone retailer The Carphone Warehouse.

According to the source, the JV is expected to develop a mobile payment platform that is set to allow users to make purchases online or from catalogs via their mobile devices. The m-payment service is initially expected to be available as an iPhone app or via SMS, while other apps are expected to be developed for BlackBerry- and Android-powered devices, as well as for WP7 and Nokia handsets.

In addition, Mobile Money Network is allegedly in talks with several UK financial institutions and retailers for the upcoming service, the source reports.

In recent news , Monitise and its partners in Nigeria have rolled out a mobile payments service in the country, media outlet africanews.com reports.
