Mobile Wallet Association to be established in Hungary

Hungarian mobile operator Magyar Telekom, local loyalty programme operator SuperShop and financial services provider OTP Bank have teamed up with Danish mobile telephone operator Telenor, Vodafone and MasterCard on a new project, media outlet nearfieldcommunicationsworld.com reports.

According to the source, the six companies involved in the project are planning to establish the Hungarian Mobile Wallet Association, with the goal to develop a technical and operational infrastructure for NFC services in Hungary.

Moreover, the source reports that the first field trials are expected to go live in 2011, planning to introduce commercial services in 2012.

In recent news , US provider of smart card-based services Oberthur Technologies has renewed its existing partnership with OTP Bank, in a bid to provide contactless payment city cards to the citizen of Pécs, a Hungarian city. In other news , Vodafone has teamed up with the organisers of Hungarian Sziget Festival, in a bid to provide visitors with contactless payment cards and NFC m-payments methods.
