Swedish technology company Mobill has launched a new version of M-Ticket mobile payment service.

Mobill’s new M-Ticket 2.0 is a vertical payment platform developed specifically to handle public transit systems. The system can be adapted to payment options, languages, mobile operators and network technologies.

With Mobill’s M-Ticket 2.0, customers can buy tickets using their mobile devices with payment via a mobile wallet, bank/credit card or mobile phone account. The customer receives an electronic ticket containing a unique code block that can be validated by scanning the mobile phone screen. The system can also handle new services including NFC and allows customers to purchase multi-trip and multi-passenger tickets.

Mobill has also closed a partnership with Indian security solutions company Sterna Security to launch a mobile payment platform in India.

Mobill Scandinavia is a private equity-backed software and services company operating the mobile commerce space. Mobill’s technology includes the Mobill Service Platform and M-code tickets and coupons, which can be sent using SMS or Internet and scanned and validated from the mobile phone screen at the point of redemption.
