UK-based mobile financial technology company Monitise has signed a new partnership agreement with RBS Technology Services to broaden mobile banking and payments services across its banking divisions.

Monitise has extended its existing relationship with RBS by entering a new five-year global strategic partnership. Under the terms of the new agreement, RBS is set to employ Monitises platform to provide bank-grade and mobile apps and services to RBS customers.

By further integrating Monitises technology platform within the bank, RBS is able to provide its customers with access to smartphone-powered services as new devices and operating systems hit the market, while continuing to provide more traditional mobile services via text message.

The new contract covers all RBS Group divisions including RBS and NatWest UK Retail, Citizens Bank US, Ulster Bank and RBS Global Corporate and Business.

In recent news, Monitise has been granted a Mobile Payment System Provider license by Nigeria’s Central Bank to build a shared financial services platform in the country.
