INSIDE Secure, a US provider of semiconductor solutions for secure transactions, and Chinese SIM-based RFID services provider Sunward Telecom are set to launch a new NFC solution which allows non-NFC mobile phones to perform payment and other transactions by inserting a new standard-size SIM card.

The NFC SIM card service uses core technology from INSIDE that reduces the effects of the metals and electrical noise found within mobile phones and other mobile devices. When inserted into a phone, the NFC SIM card communicates at 4 cm with contactless readers.

In recent news, a global smartphone manufacturer has selected INSIDE Secure for the integration of the latter’s near field communications (NFC) service into a next-generation smartphone. The identity of the manufacturer has not yet been released.

Sunward Telecom was founded in 2004. The company developed a SIM application with Radio Frequency Function dubbed RFSIM, as well as RF-SIM cards and point of sale terminals to allow contactless transactions.
