Japanese communications company KDDI has selected Dutch digital security company Gemalto for the latter’s Allynis Trusted Service Management (TSM) solution for the deployment of a commercial NFC airline boarding service.

Gemalto’s TSM allows KDDI to download the JAL application into the SIM, enabling passengers to tap their mobile phone when required to present their boarding pass. The NFC solution that KDDI has implemented can expand using Gemalto’s TSM to include additional NFC services and applications such as contactless payments, loyalty programs, transportation and couponing.

In recent news, Brazilian mobile network operator TIM Brasil and financial institution Banco Itaú have selected Gemalto for the latter’s UpTeq NFC SIM and AllynisTrusted Services Management (TSM) platform to enable consumers to use their smartphones to make payments by simply waving the handset close to a contactless payment terminal.
