As part of the agreement with Visa, ROAM will participate in the Visa Ready Partner Program and bundle its mobile point-of-sale hardware peripherals with Visa’s acceptance solutions to provide merchants with a way to accept card payments.
ROAM and Visa are set to focus on several areas to displace the use of cash globally using mobile point-of-sale acceptance technology. First of all, the companies have agreed to work together on a multinational basis to promote Visa’s and ROAM’s respective mobile acceptance solutions. Secondly, in select countries, Visa will provide ROAM with APIs (Application Program Interfaces) and SDKs (Software Development Kits) in order to connect to Visa via payment gateways. This will enable merchants of all sizes to accept and process Visa’s transactions. Finally, ROAM has agreed to develop and provide Visa acquirers and merchants globally with white label mobile acceptance devices that are fully approved for use with Visa EMV-chip, contactless and magnetic stripe card payments and compatible with CyberSource and Authorize.Net mobile point-of-sale solutions.
ROAM Data is a provider of encrypted mobile card readers that supplies solutions for companies such as Intuit, North American Bankcard, Sage Payments, NPC and Total Merchant Services. ROAM also provides a mobile card acceptance service from peripheral to app to provisioning and support portal that can be white labeled for its partners. It also has a set of tools for developers to build POS apps and mobile checkout apps of their own.
