Nigeria: First Bank partners Airtel, Globacom for mobile banking services

Nigerian financial institution First Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bharti Airtels African division Airtel Nigeria and African telecommunications company Globacom to provide mobile banking services to the unbanked Nigerian population via mobile devices, online media outlet thehindubusinessline.com reports.

According to the source, the partnership is set to provide mobile banking services including access to bank accounts, mobile money transfers, retail payments, micro insurance, mobile money remittances, mobile top-up as well as utility bill payments and government collections.

FirstBank has over 600 branches, coupled with over 1,500 ATMs including cash deposit ATMs, cardless and biometric ATMs, over 5million active accounts and more than 1,200 POS terminals.
