According to the source, Nokia is working on completing an enhanced version of its Symbian software by the end of 2011, thus aiming to make NFC-based capabilities available on its C7 smartphones.
However, Nokia executives declined to comment on the company’s plans for using NFC technology on Window Phone 7 smartphones.
In February 2011, shipments of Google’s Android-based smartphones reached 32.9 million in Q4 2010, whereas Nokia shipped 31 million units of Symbian-powered smartphones globally in Q4 2010, according to a recent report released by British research firm Canalys.
In recent news , Nokia is reportedly collaborating with UK-based NFC, smart cards, mobile phones and interactive TV technology company Proxama to develop NFC apps for Nokia smartphones, media outlet mobile marketingmagazine.com reports.
