NOOK Media, a subsidiary of retailer of content, digital media and educational products Barnes & Noble, has entered an agreement with US-based mobile payments services provider Fortumo to launch in-app purchases.

Under the agreement, app and game developers are set to be able to sell digital content in their products to NOOK customers in the NOOK Store. Games and apps featuring in-app purchasing will be available for customers to experience on NOOKs line of tablets.

Through its partnership with NOOK Developer, Fortumo will provide developers with the tools and resources they need to implement in-app purchasing, including a dashboard with real-time insights on revenues and smart analytics on how customers are making purchases. With the integration of Fortumos one-click checkout, once a customer has registered for in-app purchasing theres no need to enter long credit card numbers before each payment. They click Pay and the purchase is completed in seconds.

Fortumo has mobile operator billing connectivity to 250 mobile operators in 70 countries. While Fortumo has carrier billing partnerships in 60 countries, with 230 carriers, where its available, it automatically falls back to Premium SMS where its not.

In recent news, Fortumo has added investment companies Intel Capital and Greycroft Partners as new investors in a growth round of financing.
