Oberthur Technologies teams up with Xiaomi

Oberthur Technologies, a French provider of security and identification solutions based on smart card technologies, has teamed up with Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi.

Under the terms of the agreement, Chinese customers are set to pay with their mobile devices leveraging Oberthur Technologies solutions. Oberthur Technologies’ PEARL embedded secure element is chosen by Xiaomi for its Mi3 smartphone.

In recent news, Oberthur Technologies has unveiled that MoreMagic, an Oberthur Technologies company, has joined the MasterCard Mobile Money Partnership Program (MMPP), a program designed to assist approximately 2.5 billion financially-underserved consumers around the world use their mobile phones to access mainstream financial services.
