Oney Banque Accord launches QR code-based mobile payments service in France

Wednesday 12 December 2012 14:30 CET | News

Oney Banque Accord, a wholly-owned subsidiary of French retailer Auchan, has launched a QR code-based mobile payments service dubbed Flash Pay.

To use the Flashn Pay service, customers download an application to their smartphones and then link their payment and loyalty cards to their accounts. At checkout, a QR code is presented to the customer by the merchants terminal. The customer then captures an image of the QR code with their phones camera and enters a PIN to complete payment.

The Flashn Pay service also works for e-commerce and m-commerce transactions. To make a purchase from an online store, customers use their phones to snap an image of a 2D barcode that is generated at checkout and then enter their PIN on their handset.

Flashn Pay is set to be rolled out across Auchans stores in France, as well as outlets in Luxembourg and Portugal, in April 2013.
