Payfone gathers USD 11 million in Series B financing round

Global mobile payments services provider Payfone has revealed the closing of its Series B financing session.

Opus Capital, a US-based venture capital company, and BlackBerry Partners Fund, a venture capital firm focused on mobile computing, have joined Series A investor RRE Ventures in an USD 11 million round. Bob Borchers from Opus Capital and BlackBerry Partners Fund‘s Kevin Talbot will join Payfone’s current Board of Directors.

Payfone’s mobile billing service is set to provide customers with the ability to pay for their online or mobile purchases only with their phone number. The purchases are then billed directly to the consumers prepaid or post-paid mobile account. Payfones platform enables one-click mobile billing for online and mobile purchases globally with fraud prevention and detailed billing records.

Payfone’s representatives have revealed plans of using the funds to expand the company’s presence across EMEA, Latin America and Asia.
