payleven, Elavon team up for mobile payment acceptance service

Elavon, a global payments provider and a subsidiary of US Bancorp, has entered an agreement with German mobile payments services provider payleven to enable small businesses across Europe to accept mobile debit and credit card payments using their smartphones or tablets.

payleven’s solution turns smartphones and tablets into mobile debit and credit card processing terminals using its software app available for Apple iOS and for Android devices plus a free card reader. Under the agreement, Elavon is set to provide payment processing services.

Elavon provides payment processing solutions and services to more than one million merchants in the US, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Puerto Rico. In recent news, Elavon has made its MobileMerchant application available in Ireland.

In recent news, payleven has launched a chip and PIN device for mobile payments which links to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. The PIN is entered on a keypad on the device. Through the mobile chip and PIN device merchants and service providers are set to be able to accept debit and credit card payments while on-the-go.
